My role is based within the Commercial Banking sector and my main duties revolve around providing outstanding levels of customer service to the bank's business clients. This can include performing tasks such as opening new accounts, inviting clients to events and booking in meetings with the client's relationship manager.
Since starting I have developed a range of new skills and abilities, my understanding of the industry has developed massively and I am now undertaking tasks of which I never thought I could. I have gone from strength to strength and hope to continue this in the coming years.
I have found the programme to be really engaging and have had a massive amount of support along the way. The bank are really keen to invest in new talent and push us all the way to gain new skills and qualifications.
As an employee I would say that RBS value all of their staff extremely well and provide ongoing support and training to further our careers. For example, we internally measure our staff's NPS to ensure that they are happy within their working enviroment.
The programme has been really well structured by both our training provider and the bank. Before starting with RBS all of the apprentices attended a training event to help ease us in to the bank and give us an insight into what was to come throughout the course of the programme.
BPP Professional Education have been really good at ensuring we all understand what is required of us over the course of the programme while providing a huge amount of content and support to help get us through it.
RBS, my director and my manager have all been really supportive since I joined the bank last October. They are all keen for me to do well, ensure that I am constantly learning new things and want to push me on through the various career paths available within the bank.
The salary provided as part of the apprenticeship is really good as it combines a salary element and a benefits package. As a result I recieve a really good wage, pension, discounts at many high street retailers and, should I wish to take it up, private healthcare and dental surgery.
As well as the opportunities within the workplace there are also many outside of it to. These include everything from large networking events to playing football with some colleagues after work
Yes
There are so many opportunities to develop both yourself and your career at the bank. You recieve so much training along the way and the salary to go with it is a really great bonus.
The main thing to remember is to be yourself - you don't have to have qualifications in economics or business; just a passion for what you want to do. Also, it's never a bad idea to do some research before you apply as having a greater understanding of the business will provide you with a better picture as to what the bank actually does.
