A vast amount of training was covered during the first year including an NVQ and BTEC qualifications, developing the foundations for life in the workplace as well as aquiring safe working practices. Since returning to work learning has continued and increased exponentially, with responsibilities of maintaining machinery to problem solving and working through projects. Despite only being an apprentice i have been fully immersed.
NVQ qualifications and BTEC, as well as training courses on the functions of PLC ran machinery and the logic and on the job experience and knowledge.
The people i work with are helpful and the training that has been provided has been very good. However i don't think i have been truely challeneged so far.
Been given the oppurtunity to work on a good project task, sometimes feel theres not alot of feedback or recognition. Woud like to be challenged more.
To begin with the structure was poor and confusing with little known on the future or where or what i should be doing and this took a fair amount of time to get right despite not being 100% now.
Training so far has been useful and extensive offering advice and step every step of the way.
The pay is good and despite the extensive travel costs due to location it seems fair and reasonable.
Other than private arranged social events outside of work the only events seem to be at christmas. Other than that there is very little in the way of events or activities.
Yes
Prospects of the position are great with nice benefits and good pay
Completely be yourself when filling out applications and if invited to an assessment centre day. Try to get some experience if possible of commercial manufacturing which will leave you in good stead for the apprentice position. Role offers huge oppurtunities with many avenues and possibilities depending on your skills and willingness to contribute.
