I work in GE sales and publishing. My title is a team assistant and this means my role involves completing admin work such as data clean up's, i also book meetings and arrange meetings for my managers, i deal with sales contracts and work with the other offices around the worlds to get the contracts signed.
I have learnt so many new skills. I have learnt how to use some new softwares such as PARIS and ibusiness. I have improved on my people skills and communication skills as i work with so many different people. This apprenticeship has also improved my confidence greatly as i am able to work independently and learn from the experience.
So far, I have really enjoyed my experience. I have made so many friends and friends for life, i have been able to make really good connections. I have also been able to take on loads of opportunities such as working at the Royal Variety Show and The Brit Awards. I have also been able to gain office work experience which will help me greatly when applying for a permanent job.
I feel very valued by ITV, i am always asked how the programme is going and many employees of ITV think the scheme is great. My department also value my help and assistance and i am able to do different tasks for different people.
The apprenticeship plan is well structured as there are days throughout the year where there are workshop days, this allows us to feel pressured by lots of work. We are also allowed 4 hours a week out of work to complete course work which is very useful.
I am fully aware that i can email or get in contact with my training provider when ever i feel like i need to. If i ever have an issue with coursework/work i know i will be able to contact them. Luckily i havn't had to contact them but i know someone who wasn't enjoying the programme and was able to sort the problem quickly.
I know my employer is also there if i have any problems and can contact them when i feel need to, again i havn't ever had to but i know they would work with me to solve any problems i have.
My salary covers me completely and i am more than happy with the competitive wage we get here. It covers my home keeping/travel/leisure and i am still able to put some aside.
Outside of work i am usually not in the know about opportunities i would be interested in other than when it's too late. I wouldn't know where to go to look for opportunities which interest me i only hear from word of mouth.
Yes
ITV is such a diverese company and i feel there is something for everyone within the business whether it is Marketing/Sales/Daytime TV/Law/Finance/Production/Events i feel ITV has it all and gives employers opportunities to move around and get involved in different departments.
To be confident in what you are applying for, do your research and be up for learning many different skills. I would also say to listen to everyone you speak to as they can over advice and help across loads of subjects.
