My job title is apprentice repair specialist, I am learning to repair and diagnose faults with circuit boards. My responsibilities include looking after my provided workspace and equipment, as well as asking questions to further improve my skills and knowledge
Since I started, I have been trained as a repair specialist to IPC standard, and have gained the relevant qualification for this. This course was provided by my company. I have also greatly extended my skills wit the use of soldering equipment and tools
I highly enjoy my programme, the work I do is interesting and different every day, the team I work with are open and helpful, and the atmosphere within the company is very friendly
I feel I am appreciated within the company, my co-workers and manager ask me to complete tasks that are more and more important, and show appreciation when they are completed, whether verbally or in the form of a reward
My programme was made very clear to me at the start of the course, and all of the resources that I would require are available to me at all times. I have the time to study for my college course, as well as support from my manager and mentor
My mentor provides me with constant support and availability for support throughout my time at work and college. If there are any questions, concerns or issues, then my mentor helps to the best of their ability
My employer provides me with as much support as possible, ranging from extra study-time if required, to additional training, or software/programs that will help with my training in college and work.
My salary has exceeded my expectations at Siemens, and I am very happy with the wage I'm given. My living and travel costs are very low as I live close to work, and so the wage I am paid is more than sufficient
There are a lot of company events that I can get involved with, such as group excursions and training events. I have recently been involved in a volunteering initiative with local schools to present engineering.
Yes
The company provides a friendly, safe, hard-working atmosphere that is both motivating and inspiring. Along with the additional training possibilities and courses, Siemens provides the right training, experience and opportunities that I need
The application process is very calm and relaxed, the online assessments can be challenging, but the interviews are quite fun and interesting. Starting with Siemens is definitely a good choice, and I would definitely recommend it to future apprentices
