Either working as a fitter on site carrying out general basic and major maintenance's or if i am in training at the academy then attending a 9-4:30 course which can be either theory or practical work.
I have developed many skills whilst at National Grid, the most prominent being communication and practical skills.
I enjoy every day of my job weather i am on site or training at the academy.
Contrary to what i thought before i started i really feel like i am a respected and valuable member of my team on site.
The organisation of the programme can sometimes be a little off but for the most part i always know where i am and what i am supposed to be doing, sometimes up to a year in advance.
I receive all the support i need weather i am at the academy training and need guidance with the course i am on or if i am on site and need assistance in completing a task or with work i have been given by the academy.
Again i receive plenty of support from my employer, if i have a question about anything either training or site related he is always happy to help me in any way he can.
My salary more than covers my cost of living and also enables me to spend money on myself.
Yes, there are plenty of opportunities throughout the year that i am constantly notified of in case i would like to get involved.
Yes
I have already recommended about 5 of my friends to apply for a job at National Grid, this is because i feel like i receive the training i need to forward my skills as well as getting paid a very generous amount whist training.
Just go for it, the assessment center is a great experience and if you manage to get the job then you have landed a fantastic career in a large company that i have not yet been able to fault.
