During my time as an apprentice, I was a live service support software engineer. This involved a great variety of things. On a day to day basis, I mainly spent time supporting live services and resolving issues for users. This involved using things such as UNIX and SQL. I also worked on improvement tasks when I had time spare. Since then, I have moved to become a developer. I am now training and working on becoming a .NET developer, this involves getting stuck in and working on some really interesting and technical stuff as well as training courses, that have taught me a great deal, and have really helped to progress my skill as a developer.
During my time here, I have received a great deal of training. And all of it, has benefitted me greatly in my job. From creative thinking skills, to object oriented software development, I have learnt a great a lot. I love being able to spend a period of time learning something in a classroom, and then take it away and apply it to my work. Its rather rewarding, when you improve/solve something back in the office, using something you have learnt a short time before in a classroom. As well as courses, I have also learnt a lot from on the job experience. During my time as a live service support software engineer, I have learnt a great deal. It can be a high pressure environment, and it really helps to push to learn. Since becoming a developer, I have been receiving training on development skills specific to what I am doing now, as well as getting the chance to work on some really interesting and technical stuff! On top of this, there have been many opportunities outside of my normal work, that I have got involved with, and have received some great experience from doing so (as well as having a lot of fun). They have given me a chance to demonstrate other skills to people, that I may not necessarily get to use normally.
I enjoy my program greatly. Growing up, I always wanted to be a software developer, and now I am getting the chance to do just that, and with great support. I am incredibly grateful of the opportunities that I get, and look forward to continuing to progress as a software developer
As an individual, I feel that Capgemini value me. To me, it is evident as I have received some great support, training, recognition, have had some great opportunities and have met some great people a long the way.
We have a clear plan to follow, and this is outlined at the start. We have a great understanding of the program as we go into it. On top of that; help is always available should we have questions. We also have regular catch up calls, to see how one another is doing, and offer answers to questions, should any arise.
During my apprenticeship, I received all the support that I needed from my training provider. I had meetings with my reviewer on a regular basis, in which, we reviewed work, set targets and spoke about the apprenticeship. They were very helpful as well; in situations where I needed guidance/help, they always gave a useful response and were thorough in answering questions.
I receive a lot of support. This comes both in the form of training, and general help. This year, I have already been on multiple training courses to help me train for my new role. In terms of guidance on my program, support is always on hand should I need it.
As an apprentice, it is very generous and competitive. Especially considering the amount of training and help that you are also receiving. I had no difficulty with living costs at all during my program.
Outside of my work, there are plenty of opportunities. First off, charity work is a big one; there is always something to be getting involved with in terms of charity work, which I intend to do plenty of in future! On top of that, there are other opportunities, such as challenges and competitions, which I have been involved with multiple times now. I have received a lot of experience, personal achievement and confidence from taking part in these. I have also met a lot of great people. I would recommended taking part in opportunities like this to anyone on similar program.

Firstly, I enjoy my job, and am proud of it. My experiences so far at Capgemini, are something that I will remember for the rest of my life, and have helped to positively shape me as a person. They offer a great variety of opportunities, that have given me the chance to demonstrate my skills, and have a great deal of fun whilst doing so! As an individual, I feel valued. From day one, I have been treated great. This has not changed one bit. There is always someone willing to help, in situations where I may need it. As well as all of that, I have received a great deal of training and support that has helped to shape my career, and develop me as an individual, which I am very grateful for. I used practice software and web development as a hobby, but now I get to do it as a job, and I couldn't ask for more than that. For anyone who is in a similar situation, and enjoys IT, I would recommend Capgemini's apprenticeship scheme.
If you have an passion for what you are applying for, then show it the best you can! For Assessment days and interviews, my biggest piece of advice would be to not get worked up/worried about them. Going into the assessment center, I was very nervous. I was also suffering badly with hay fever that day, which didn't help! As my eyes were that watery, I couldn't see clearly for longer than a few seconds, this wasn't helping as it was adding to my nerves. However, after arriving in the reception, I was quickly greeted in a welcoming manor. The individual even offered me water to help me with my hay fever, and then explained it to the interviewer ahead of the interview, and they were completely understanding. It was a small gesture, but this helped relax my nerves a great deal. I ended up enjoying the day, I got an insight into what potential areas I could be working in, and met other people like me who were going for an apprenticeship. The onboarding process was great. All of the apprentices were gathered in one location, in which we were taken through the structure of the program. We were given great team building opportunities, and got the chance to make good friends and receive talks from experienced people. Following on from that, we began our training.
