The role I currently under take is a PMO -'Project management office' role on client site. I am involved in the month end financial activities for both internal work and client work using a new tool to track projects and help manage them. I work within a team and interact with senior members internally and from the client.
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills since working with Capgemini, I have been on many different internal training courses to help understand the processes that must be followed on the current role that I am doing. I also have attended external training courses to gain wider knowledge of existing technologies.
Yes I do enjoy the programme and the opportunity I have been given. I completed the first two years of the programme achieving a level 4 diploma with QA, I have now started my second lot of modules with Aston university. Juggling working days and study can be challenging as I have a busy role. I work within a supportive team that consists of other higher apprentices and graduates. The company culture is very welcoming and the apprentices are very well supported through a large community.
I do feel valued by Capgemini as I have many different responsibilities on the role that I am doing, outside of the role I am also involved in a few other small tasks such as mentoring that help the new joiners. I do received appreciation from different managers and have been rewarded with an internal recognition award where you get an amount to spend via the portal, you can choose vouchers for many places along with a lot of other things.
It is structured well however it seems to be continually changing for new intakes. I am happy with the programme so far as it is structured and there are previous intakes that can offer support. You are given an allowance of study days and you are encouraged to do different training courses throughout the year to help personal development.
Yes a lot of support from the training provider, it was QA who I met with every 6 weeks. Now Aston university provide the content which I am studying, the are lectures weekly and lots of different ways to communicate and receive support.
Yes the community for higher apprentices is very good, it is made clear there are different people there for support if required and there are different managers who are responsible for the junior talent in the company.
The salary does meet my costs relatively OK, I pay for travel into London each day with an 18+ oyster which enables me to get a discount. Since joining my pay has been reviewed a number of times and has increased. This is encouraging to continue working hard and receive more increases.
Yes there are different networking events that you receives emails about and can choose to attend if you please. There are lots of women networking events where they have different guest speakers. There are also team socials, account socials and away days with the client.
Yes
Capgemini has been a good experience of being able to learn and study while being paid and gaining real work experience. I am now confident that I made the right decision in joining Capgemini. The community for higher apprentices is good and supportive and you have a large group of people of a similar age doing with the same programme.
Be yourself and confident on the assessment day, Capgemini are not only looking for academic people but also personality as it is a consultancy company who are always interacting with people. You do not need to be certain what career path you want to take as you can figure this out along the way with the support from the different people.
