I run the Grant Thornton UK social media accounts. I offer support to the marketing tama to promote their new reports and for larger marketing campaigns.
Yes. I have improved on my communication skills, my organisation skills as well as learning more about marketing. I have developed strategies and learnt about change management, project management and how to be an entrepreneur/"intrepreneur"
The college tasks have been great, and some aspects of my work I enjoy but a lot of the content we have to promote is very dry and a massive lack of social media knowledge makes my job difficult. I go through stages where we have no new content and I'm elf not having much to do.
I've learnt a lot but find a lot of the role tedious and not worthwhile. There hasn't been a huge amount of support from my people manager and very poor communication between the college and myself.
Had the potential to be brilliant, but the lack of college communication and no "set in stone" deadline dates made it difficult.
The college have been good with learning but are difficult to contact and get answers from. I have learnt a lot of interesting stuff which has then been used in my role.
My people manager does not offer me much support unless I ask for it. I do not feel as if I was guided much and have even had to push him to put in meetings for catch ups. I hear very rarely from the person in charge of the apprentices.
Barely. I'm satisfied with the pay given it is an apprenticeship and before I moved out it was more than enough. Now living away from home and having to travel into London it is probably £200 short a month. For a two year course I would have expected a bigger raise from year one to year two. But I feel it is more than fair for the level
Yes. Lots of things going on in a big company with lots of different people. Sports, events, communities etc. There is a lack of team drinks/team get togethers.
No
The culture is still very structured and "cilod". The offices are bleak and uninspiring and everyone puts their work first with little appreciation of other people being busy or having more important things on.
Try to get involved with the growing Apprentice Network as it is turning into something which will offer a lot of support and opportunities. People will help you, but only if you ask! You HAVE to be proactive.
