I get given tasks set by my line manager, in which I complete to the highest standard. These include; completing drawings on AutoCAD,Printing, Binding, Tasks set by other senior members of the team.
I was new to AutoCAD and I have now developed my skills on this by practicing, following an online tutorial, learning from other senior members and following their guidance and by drawing myself.
I really enjoy it, I'm learning new skills everyday and it's very useful having experienced members of the team around me and helping me as much as they can.
I feel very valued because they put their faith in me to succeed. I get given tasks that need to completed in a specific time frame and I get the motivation from the team that want to help me and watch me succeed.
The induction was very handy, very useful, it helped me a lot. I settled in really quickly thanks to the support and training. My line manager organized weekly meetings to set my targets and to see how I was doing and how I was getting on in the team.
I receive a lot of support from my line manager because he wants to help me succeed and I also get a lot of help from other members of the team. The team are always happy to help me even if they have a task to do, they are willing to sit with me for 15 minutes or so to see how I'm doing and to offer help and guidance wherever possible.
My line manager and other members of the team are always willing to support me in whatever I do. HR are always on hand if I need help with anything, e.g. my pay, my probationary period etc. I have been given access to a lot of resources, for example, 'Global e-Training' which is an online tutorial on all things associated with Autodesk like AutoCAD and Revit. If I have any sort of problem with anything, I can ask any member of the team and they are willing to give me guidance towards solving the problem.
As I'm only young, I don't have to pay any bills but I do pay board at home which isn't a lot. I spend most of my salary on travelling and lunch. I still have a lot left over at the end of every month and it's never a struggle for money. It's easy to get to work from where I live so travelling doesn't cost a lot.
I play football on a Thursday lunchtime, which involves members of Mott MacDonald and I also play on a Monday night with the company, for another kick-a-bout. There is a business league in Football that I have not yet played for. Also, there are many opportunities that are set up by the Sports and Social Committee like 'Go Ape Adventure Park', 'Sports Day' etc.
