Within Unilever I work on the Marketing Brand Building team for Knorr. My daily tasks include keeping up to date with my projects and interacting with the relevant external agencies to optimize the outcomes. Another daily task I participate in is being involved in a internal ecommerce project where I obtain information from my team internally.
Internally I have been able to learn new skills through introductions with R&D, Finance, Nutrition. I have also learnt how to react to certain situations in the correct way and how to approach things in a professional manor. I have developed my people skills also and interact/ work with people in different departments/ agencies.
I really enjoy interacting with my Knorr team closely as well as the savoury team as a whole. The programme has been better so far than what I expected and as a whole I really enjoy spending my time at Unilever.
Personally, I feel very valued at Unilever. My line manager and day to day manager is very caring and appreciates the work I do. I have the lead over many projects now and feel important and valued in these. Several times my managers have given me recognition for my hard and so have agencies externally.
My induction was very informative, organised and structured. I have had all the train I have needed so far and I am happy with my work to study ratio. I feel happy to ask my assessor's if I have any problems and have meetings with them at least once a month.
I can easily access support from my tutor if needed through email, Skype or call. In the past I have asked for help and my tutor has responded quickly and affectively. Their general attitude is very positive and they are happy to help.
I have a lot of support from my employer. I can easily ask for help from my manager through email, in person or over a call. I have weekly catch-ups with my manager and he is always happy to help if I have any problems.
Personally, I am struggling a little with costs. I have a high rent and have to pay for travel costs. However, I am only half an hour on the train to the office so the distance of my travel is great. However, this means it doesn't give me much money at all for socialising. The location is good but if I was to have a higher salary it would be a lot easier for me to do the things I had a higher salary.
Yes, I have already been to company events and activities. We also have a gym at the office which is great and have had organised team gym sessions in the past. I have been out socially with people in my team and we all get on really well.
Yes
Unilever is an amazing global company with an amazing marketing sector because of the great brands that they own. You have so many 'perks' to the job including, free ben and jerry's ice cream, free gym membership, a discounted staff shop and much more. I believe Unilever caters for all and values all of it's employees whatever work level they are.
Go in with an open mind, everyone with you will be going through the same thing. Be confident and happy to be there as it is an amazing experience to work at Unilever if you can make it through the assessment day!
