Trainee Associate in Public Sector Audit - this involves completing audits on NHS and Local Government Accounts. This will be testing underlying transactions to get assurance over the figures in the accounts. This role will involve a lot of different responsibilities.
Training towards CIPFA/ICAS qualification. There has also been a number of internal training courses. The responsibilities of the role has also led to learning a number of personal/professional skills on the job,
The work is challenging but I am learning a lot. The team is fantastic and a major plus of the job. There is a good company culture and I do largely enjoy the job
There is some internal recognition schemes within Grant Thornton and appreciation from managers.
Induction and training were very well organised and there is some support in place for progressing through the role. There is adequate study time given and in place also.
Training provider ICAS could definitely be improved with the level of support given and attitude to solving any issues.
Manager is very supporting and mentor was also fantastic as well. There has been a great attitude to guidance with problems and a general attitude towards support
Salary is adequate for living costs of location. Any travel costs are covered by employer also.
There is a great social scene between trainees at my location and there are also a number of company events/activities.

Concentrate on selling your unique selling points to the company and do your homework on the service line you are applying for. Also do your research on Grant Thornton as a company and what the current strategy is
