  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a designer working on Design software from day to day.I work both in a 3D model and a 2D diagram. It involves me working for and with different people regularly. My role often involves helping to solve clash issues for them to share their workload.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a total new skillset based on the computer, This is using the software available to me. I have also become more confident talking to other people as i work in a sociable trade. I have become more determined to finish tasks once i have started and feel more motivated to work than before.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the apprenticeship i am on as it is set up perfectly for school leavers like me as well as other ages. It is set up to guide you through which is exactly what you need when your new to a business. You never get left to fend for yourself

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I feel very valued as every team that i have been on has included me and given me work to complete. People appreciate the work i do and dont just take it for granted. I also get feedback from my teams and progression reviews which help me to keep on track with what they want from me. I do feel very valued overall.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured and guides you through the apprenticeship really well. It has helped me settle both at college and work which proves it is working. The programme allows me to see different aspects of the business on different placements which works really well for me getting to know people and getting to know what sort of work is available here.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My training provider is really helpful and can always be relied on if i have any issues. I can talk to them both about college and work so i do feel supported in my job. My training provider is easy to talk to and understands the apprenticeship system which really helps!

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer is really helpful especially people within my teams that i work for. Everyone is really supportive and helpful if i ever become unsure on something. No question is ever a stupid question.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • my salary meets my costs well and i feel the gradual increase in pay is helping me to understand what i can dow ith my money. Starting off with less than i am now has made me realise the importance of saving for the future. I feel like my salary both fulfils my costs and allows me to save.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Outside of work there are few opportunities made aware to me. Whetehr this is because of the stage i am at in my apprenticeship or just a lack of opportunities i am unsure but i rarely get made aware of out of work opporunities.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work and you get guided through really well. As soon as you start you dont feel 'new' you feel valued which makes you feel positive about the work you are undertaking. I feel you are treat well as well as the work being interesting so i would definately reccomend


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • I would say to understand the job role that youa re going for. Definately read up on the role youve applied for so you know what to expect when you start. You should also understand the college requirements that you face when doing your apprenticeship
