I am an Engineering Technician within BAE Systems. As I am currently in my second year, I am going through 12 week placements in multiple area's of the business to gain experience and a greater understanding of ship building as a whole. Because of this my daily tasks can vary depending upon the placement that I am. These tasks have included: -Attending plan of the day meetings with management to gain an understanding of the planning and strategy behind shipbuilding -Attending reviews with management to review change requests and to discuss there impact. Other day to day tasks have range greatly this could be tasks giving to me by my placement lead, these could be anything from simple tasks that take a few hours to complex tasks which could lasts days. I have worked on every current project that Naval ships is working on which has given me an excellent insight to the operation of the company and the hierarchy of the process itself.
I have so far gained a HNC in Engineering systems and I'm currently in my first year of a two year HND course in Engineering systems. I have completed basic health and safety courses within the company to achieve the correct level of safety passport to do my job.
