As a Software Engineer who has just finished their 3 month Accelerated Learning Environment (ALE) course, a typical day would include studying for one of our sprints (a 2 week block of lectures in which we learn a new skill) or visiting the Capgemini office to integrate into the business and corporate environment.
On the 3 month Accelerated Learning Environment (ALE) you have to opportunity to learn a variety of skills. The skills learned depend on which "stream" you are in. For example, as part of the Business Information Management unit, Microsoft Business Intelligence was a course we were required to complete. This was supplemented by other technical skills such as learning to use SQL Server Management Studio, Data Modelling and Programming Fundamentals (Python/Java). However, in Capgemini, soft skills are just as important as technical prowess, because of this we were encouraged to develop our EQ.
The programme is very enjoyable. The work you are given is challenging and requires varying degrees of teamwork which is ideal for preparing you for life in Capgemini where there is great emphasis on teamwork.
Despite having not begun any projects for Capgemini I still feel very valued. At Capgemini there is a huge emphasis junior talent recruitment and development.
The programme was well structured, though it is important to remain flexible and be able to adapt to change.
Constant support and advice was available form the training provider. Unfortunately, course materials were less than ideal at times - however, this has been taken on board.
Guidance is always available from more than one person from within Capgemini. Everyone at Capgemini is encouraging your success.
The salary is very generous - particularly when you consider the amount of training and time that is invested in you.
There are a wide variety of opportunities outside of the office.
