Currently I am a Fleet Planning Engineer Apprentice. I create Strategic Fleet Plans for overseas and UK Customers to determine the flying rate and rate of maintenance for their aircraft, when its going to happen, how often and what needs doing. I also advise on other issue for modifications and manpower as well as advising supply chain on upcoming events
Interpersonal skills are being developed day by day because of my interaction with so many customers and internal departments and presentations. I have been on internal training courses which broaden my knowledge of my subject area as well as IT skills.
Every single person I interact with as an apprentice is helpful and always have time to show me how to do something and get me involved in the decision making progress. It is this team ethic that really brings out the best in the apprentices, alsways looking for fresh ideas. I really enjoy coming to work in a morning
Inside looking out, BAE systems as well as a business is very employee focused, they have a drive and passion for each employees personal development and always strice to help people being out their best by indentifying talent early on. I always feel valued in my team as I get to do independent work that has an impact on the business
Very well organised, it has a natural progression through disciplines and the right pace and gives us all the skills and knowledge we get to put in to practice in our placement year
Technical and Welfare support from the training staff on the academy is always on hand, they have a open door policy as well as independent welfare staff and training staff that can deal with almost every issue between them
The employer is always striving to get the best out of the individual and an independent learning and development team are on hand to help you reach your potential through any training needs we require
For an apprenticeship the salary is very generous because not only are we getting paid a full time wage the cost of the training included is something not a lot of other companies do.
On the sites where I work there are always charity and sporting events being advertised in the local area as well as a sports and social club for BAE Members to join which includes a gym
Yes
Because the company show that we matter. They invest in you to be the best you can be and pay you for it aswell.
If at first you don't succeed try and try again. The number of applicants is huge and although you may not be successful the first time, it doesn't mean the company will not want you on their side
