My job role on a day to day basis changes frequently, in the placement im currently in i deal with a vast range of people and departments. as well as speaking to vendors and other sites to try and get a definitive answer. i have a range of tasks to do everyday each one different.
Yes, i have learnt how the bigger picture of the company works. i have a better insight into the company and not just the engineering side of things. i am currently on my HNC and carrying out an Nvq also to develop my skills further.
Having always wanted to work in engineering i dont think i could have got into a better company. They are one of the largest in the country for engineering and are heavily focused on apprenticeships as there future. I thoroughly enjoy coming to work everyday and learning new things.
I feel BAE place a large focus on apprenticeships as one of the best ways to get into the profession and the company. we are heavily involved in the business and always get the opportunity to do extra activities to help the business promote apprenticeships within schools and colleges.
The induction process was very welcoming and informative, as for the NVQ framework it is very well set out and all based on learning assistant making it very easy to carry out evidence logs and upload them for review. Our college also feels very well structured ensuring that hand ins are on time.
My training provider offers as much support as i need, they hold a council meeting so we can raise any concerns and issues we might have. They also regularity carry out reviews to record how we are getting on and if there is anything that we need extra help with.
The support within the business and the site i am based is second to none, should we have any problems there is always someone to talk to. Everyone within the HR team are extremely accommodating. My assessor visits for weekly updates and always asks if i require any further support.
I would say that my salary and benefits are well above my costs. The incentive scheme is a really good idea to help encourage employees to meet milestones. The share scheme is also another great way to save money and invest in the company.
As a company we partake in many large events and local challenges. I myself am i stem ambassador so i go into schools and colleges and try and teach young children about engineering, this is something I thoroughly enjoy as i feel its giving something back to the local schools and colleges.
Yes
I believe if you are interested in engineering then BAE systems is one of the best in the country. Not only for engineering but the business side of the things aswell. I also believe it offers some of the best opportunities to travel and progress.
I would advise people to think of or put together a project to talk about in your interview as it is a good talking point. It can also put across your interest for engineering. I would also recommend just being yourself dont try and be someone youre not.
