Organisational, Planning, Communication Skills Foundation Skills in a Project Environment - Internal N/A - External
I enjoy the program because it gives me the opportunity to try different job roles and roles I might not have had the opportunity to go into if I had chosen a different route. The companies ethics and culture are similar to my own - dedications to every clients success as an example. I hadn't had experiance in a project environment but it was nothing like how I was expecting it, it was much better.
In my current role I am heavily involved in all projects across my account and get a lot of appreciation from the project managers who I help deliver their projects. Internal recognition, at this point I can not say External recognition, again I can not say I do however feel valued by my task manager
As all programmes there is always room for improvement with regards to content and training. The support is there but sometime I feel like people are unapproachable because of how busy they are. Mentor system is great, I have a mentor who is very knowledgeable and he is only a senior apprentice.
The college do not have much involvement besides evaluating the company on what they are doing with us. We do not have much contact with them
The support available is phenominal, there are a lot of people who you can talk to if you feel pressured or bullied or discriminated against or in general if you feel down. the support from colleagues is invaluable.
Financially speaking, I struggle because of bills and accomadation expenses whereas other apprentices on my account have been given expenses towards their living costs. Travel costs, I have had to leave my car at home, because it is too expensive for me to run and maintain it at my current project because I have had to relocate. Social costs are expensive which does not enable me to partake in most events held by IBM in Preston or surrounding areas.
There are many oppourtunitiues but all of them are in South England, as I won't get expensed I can not afford to go to events. There is a lot of training in the south, so to enable people the oppourtunity to learn I have created my own training programme to help other apprentices at my project have the chance to learn
Yes
It is a great company to work for, the amount of experience you gain is immense compared to going to university.
Know your stuff, be yourself, be professional, be respectful and be adaptable.
