  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current placement is PM Governance. This involves the auditing of packs produced by PM teams and also the drive for improvement across the business. I am often interacting with Project managers and their teams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed mandatory training as well as extra courses such as a PM Masterclass run by a director in the Business. I have also developed my communication skills further in my role due to having to talk to many different people. I am currently studying for a foundation degree and a higher apprenticeship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work I do and the team that I work in. I was surprised at the responsibility you are given as an apprentice so early on in your career.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • At BAE Systems, it doesn't take long before you feel you are actually adding value to the company with the work you do. I also have regular 1-to-1 sessions with my line manager and 12 week reviews with my apprentice managers to ensure I am progressing.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme I am on is very well organised, and a path of progression is clearly laid out. we also have opportunity to meet mentors and seek career advice from others.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We are provided with a college day once a week and many facilities at work and the college we go to, to support our studies.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have regular 1-to-1 sessions with my line manager, and also the support from the apprentice managers is very clear. if any issues do arise, I feel I will have a number of options to go to for support. There has also been a lot of help with career advice and the opportunities I am being provided to progress.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • T5he salary is competitive and very sufficient to cover life costs and be able to save as well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We often play 5-a-side with other apprentices and there are opportunities for apprentices to offer services outside of work i.e. airshows, ambassador events.

  • Yes

  • There are many opportunities within the company to challenge yourself and progress your career.
