i am an apprentice fabricator, my role is to build and piece together the steel strucutre of a ship, i take part in day to day work such as preperation, steelwork and outfitting.
i have learnt various new skills and also developed existing skills, for example i feel my hands on ability has imporved and i have learned to be more practical, i also feel my qualities such as teamwork has improved as well.
i enjoy my programme very much. Everyday is a different job and all of the work various depending on which placement you are in on the job. As the work varies so do your skills that you use and these improve grately.
Bae systems look after me very well, from training advisors to supervisors and managers, they are always there to give you a hand and to let you know how to improve.
The programme is very well detailed and laid out. You know the structure of your apprenticship from the moment that you start. evry year is a new different level of college and learning.
the training provider is always there to give you a helping hand and is always on top of your work making sure you are progressing to the best of your ability.
the supplier gives you great support, they offer great benifits that can help you in day to day life in work as well as out with work, i feel this benifits me greatly.
the salary in my opinion does not meet what i would think the workers and apprentices deserve. i feel a lot of the work is difficult on the body and we should be paid a little bit more
bae sytems offer a lot of inside oppertunities, this is good for other apprentices and i to improve and aim for moving up throughout the company. i havent even looked outside bae.
Yes
i feel its a job for life with great benifits, although i dont feel the salary meets others outside it isnt bad at all. i am happy with my life and job and would want to help others feel the same
i would tell others to make sure its hands on work they like to do, i would tell them to be hard working and bae will reward them with their hard work, make sure you are interested in the company the way i am.
