My role includes testing and commissioning of UK nuclear submarines, i felt that my placement and buisness has fully catered for my needs. However being the first of the apprentices in my department i felt that training in the department is limited.
I have learnt many new engineering skills and communication skills during my apprenticeship that have set me up for a career in engineering. I feel that my engineering skills were non-existant before my apprenticeship, I now feel confident in carrying out the easier of the test and maintainance procedures.
I enjoyed the programme because it provided constant support for any programme external to the buisness i wanted to partake in. i felt that i was included in decisions and i always had an advisor to talk too.
I feel valued by BAE systems because it has provided and still is providing me with plenty of training and qualifications that improve job prospects in and outside of the buisness.
I feel the overall NVQ is structured OK as many of the commissioning NVQ units did not make sense or apply to my job role. I felt that the programme needs further tailoring to the specific job role rather than the general.
I felt that the support from the training provider was fantastic and support was provided at all times. I feel that there is no need to change this as it provides adaquate support.
I feel that employer could have provided more support and training in my placement which will have given me more experience for my time completion and exit role.
I felt that the salary was very competative and provided me with enough money to even buy my own house and save for holidays. I feel that the salary increases were great and were spaced out correctly.
There were many opportunities to get involved with various programmes and schemes which were interesting and got me more involved with engineering and gave me a bigger picture of the industry.
Yes
It is a fantastic buisness that has a competative salary and most importantly provides training at local colleges which allows me to earn and learn.
Apply for an apprenticship here and enjoy it as it only comes around once. Get involved with as many of the schemes as possible as they go onto your CV and get you noticed in the buisness.
