Everyday I placed in a different law division in the company. As a result of this my day to day tasks were varied but were as realistic as possible and were the typical duties of a trainee lawyer.
During the week I certainly enhanced my communication skills as I was constantly meeting new people and networking with many lawyers. I also learned how to easily condense text whilst reading it as some law books are very large.
I really enjoyed it. It really helped further my knowledge of law and the different paths into it. The week also highlighted the various opportunities in law after graduating from university.
Very valued. Every employee I met, whether they were a lawyer or not, initiated conversation and seemed interested in what I had to say.
Very organised. I was given an itinerary a week before my placement was due to start. I also had my travel booked in advance and the dress code sent out to me as well. I was never left wondering what I needed to do as it was always in writting, and if on the rare occasion that it wasn't, many people were happy to assist me.
Throughout I had various trainee lawyers that supervised me for a day. Everyone was lovely and made me feel welcome. I enjoyed hearing all their different routes into the law and the firm. The work they gave me was all very similar to what they would do on a daily basis. If I had any questions or difficulties they would not hesitate in helping me.
I'm not employed at Pinsent Masons and was only there for a work placement. However the various partners that I met were all very welcoming and easy to talk to.
I wasn't paid for this work experience as it was only a week long. During lunch however lunch was provided and I was also welcome to use the onsite tea and coffee facilities.
Yes. Everyone I spoke to was very enthusiastic about the various clubs, committees and outings that the company provided/catered for.
Yes
As overall it was a very insightful experience. I learned a lot and it reassured me that this is a career I want to peruse in the future.
Just be honest in the application and you'll get it if the company is right for you.
