The role I have depends on what team I am on at that time. I complete around 6 months on each placement, and I am thought of as part of the work force on each team. This usually involves design work, inputting data, and documentation.
I have learnt many new pieces of software, and have developed my communication and team work skills.
I enjoy the programme as I get to be involved in many different aspects of submarine building as I go on different placements, which gives me a wider understanding of how the product is made.
I feel valued by the company as they have trust in me as an apprentice to complete important work that is integral to the submarine building process.
The programme is well structured, the placements are thought out in advance and the teams usually have a work plan for me to complete
I am also put through qualifications which benefit towards my everyday job.
My training provider gives me all the required skills to be able to complete my job through on the job training, they are able to offer any additional support if needed.
The salary I am currently on is good enough for my age and I never have any money issues.
The company organises trips that I can be involved in, such as STEM days, helping out at schools, recruitment fairs, and external competitions.
Yes
I have enjoyed my time here and it has been a great company to work for. They are very keen on progression and want the best out of their employees.
I would advise to research as much about the company as possible beforehand, so you know what trade to apply for. There are many options, so it would be a good idea to have a good idea about what each one does. Some trades also have additional qualifications that can be acquired.
