I am currently a Project Management Higher Apprentice, studying for an APM qualification. My role includes working towards PM competencies which get signed of as part of the qualification. Over the apprenticeship my roles have included a mix of Project Control roles and Project Management roles.
Yes, I have had many opportunities to work towards my continual professional development. I have had the chance to present to a over 60 people, something I never thought I would do. The Apprenticeship teaches you a vast range of skills and the chance to develop those you already have.
I really enjoy the scheme, you are very well supported. I enjoy being part of a large cohort of 11. Changing placements annually means you get to meet a vast range of people and build up a big network.
We are given many opportunities to feed back and improve the scheme. Positive changes have been made since the start, and when we see our ideas embedded you feel valued. I have also had the chance to go and visit many different sites and locations, we are encouraged to do our best and fully supported.
Our programme only started in 2014, and I was part of the first cohort. The programme is still in its infancy in Portsmouth, so there is a lot of opportunity to learn and develop.
I feel supported by the training provider. A range of learning styles has helped the whole group be able to understand. We have good communication.
I feel well supported; we have regularly monthly reports and meetings as well as 12 week reviews to measure progress. Communicating with our employer keeps them in the loop of the balance between studying/work.
The salary has increased during the programme but this was slow to start. I think the starting salary is very good for someone who has just left college and is living at home however for older people with experience/previous degree's it can be low. It does progress over the time period.
Yes, I am a representative of a higher national council; representing the scheme at different locations over 6 weekly periods. I have also represented STEM activities.
