My job role is to strip down mechanical seals, complete inspection reports and to fulfil any repair work which may be required. I also complete machining tasks when in work, these include milling and turning.
I have learnt a wide range of skills from my experience in the workshop. I have also been sent on external courses such as Fork Lift Driver.
I really enjoy the programme, the college work can build up but as long as you're organised you can keep on top of things.
I work for a sub-contracted company and am classed as an EOP at BAE Systems.
The programme is very well organised and structured to allow new apprentices time to develop skills before moving into the workplace.
I receive a lot of help and support from my mentor, he has been very supportive whilst I have been having a hard time at home.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and they allow me extra time to finish off any college work I have outstanding.
I struggle with my salary however I accept I am still an apprentice and still learning and developing skills.
Rarely.
Yes
My apprenticeship has allowed me to learn a very wide range of skills and information which I feel I wouldn't have learnt if I had taken my apprenticeship elsewhere.
I would give advice to people during the application process and Interview.
