Daily job tasks and roles can vary depending on which area you are working in, you could be speaking to a customer in Italy or fixing a VT on a F35 jet. At the moment i am helping build the aft section of a F35
I have learnt many new skills on the apprenticeship, and am also working towards a level 3 NVQ, ONC then a HNC qualification though work. Also you can enroll on many other courses in your apprenticeship.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all my apprenticeship so far and it has exceeded my expectations that i had before joining BAE Systems. The work i have been given and the teams i have worked in have be great and supportive throughout.
I feel very valued as a part of any team i have worked in whilst at BAE Systems. Plenty of feedback is given to you on where you have done well and where you can improve for next time.
The apprenticeship is structured in a 1 year induction and training the start with then 6 four month placements 'on-site' to show you haw the business works. After the placements you will have a final 6 months in your role then be fully employed by the company.
Support it always given when asked of from your role you are working in and also at college by your tutors and assessors. The support it also helpful and helps you develop.
Lots of support is also given from BAE Systems whether that is from your manager, mentor or assessor. They all have a good attitude of trying to support you and help your development.
The salary is very good considering i am an apprentice and covers all my cost; living, travel and daily cost from going to and from work, the salary also increases each year as you develop.
There are lots of opportunities outside work such as; awards evenings, football matches, volunteering for charities, leisure clubs, German exchange, princes trust, world skills, and many other activities that are available.

The apprenticeship is a great opportunity for anyone into a business, engineering or aircraft job, there are that many jobs within BAE Systems that there is plenty to choose from.
Try to have a basic understanding of how the company works and an engineering job involves. Keep calm on the interview day and just be honest on what you have been involved in.
