  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently, I am still in training, therefore I attend the learning and development centre where I aquire different skills, mainly in the workshop (such as Milling, Turning, Welding and Assembly) but also extra courses to develop myself.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developmend many new skills, such as Turning, Milling, Welding, Sheet Metal Working, Drawing (CAD), Electrical, Lean manufacturing and more. Also I have gained other skills such as working in a team, holding meetings and more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot. It is challenging and you learn lots of new skills, which will come in useful later in my apprenticeship.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • I feel quite valued - as I am still an apprentice I am unsure what it will be like in the business, but hopefully it will be the same as the training centre.

  • It is very organised, with a set plan that you may consult on a regular basis, and courses may be booked onto when you require them

  • I recieve a lot of support as all of the instructors are very approachable and willing to help where they can.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a fair amount of support from the employer as currently every third week I go to college to study for a foundation degree.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is very competitive to someone my age and offers the opportunity to progess and it meets my costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities inlcuding different sports clubs such as rugby, football, running, etc. And there is also a lesuire centre.

  • 9. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very good place to work, with lots of training to develop yourself, but at the same time is challenging and demanding.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Be prepared to work hard and make sure to listen carefully to the instructors and you will learn a lot of new information.
