Currently, I am still in training, therefore I attend the learning and development centre where I aquire different skills, mainly in the workshop (such as Milling, Turning, Welding and Assembly) but also extra courses to develop myself.
I have developmend many new skills, such as Turning, Milling, Welding, Sheet Metal Working, Drawing (CAD), Electrical, Lean manufacturing and more. Also I have gained other skills such as working in a team, holding meetings and more.
I enjoy the programme a lot. It is challenging and you learn lots of new skills, which will come in useful later in my apprenticeship.
I feel quite valued - as I am still an apprentice I am unsure what it will be like in the business, but hopefully it will be the same as the training centre.
It is very organised, with a set plan that you may consult on a regular basis, and courses may be booked onto when you require them
I recieve a lot of support as all of the instructors are very approachable and willing to help where they can.
I recieve a fair amount of support from the employer as currently every third week I go to college to study for a foundation degree.
The salary is very competitive to someone my age and offers the opportunity to progess and it meets my costs.
There are many opportunities inlcuding different sports clubs such as rugby, football, running, etc. And there is also a lesuire centre.
Yes
It is a very good place to work, with lots of training to develop yourself, but at the same time is challenging and demanding.
Be prepared to work hard and make sure to listen carefully to the instructors and you will learn a lot of new information.
