My role at Rolls Royce is an advanced technical apprentice. I generally spend my days here either in the workshop learning skills on machinery, fitting or assembly etc. or I am at college working toward my BTEC level 3 in engineering.
At Rolls Royce I have learnt loads of new skills whether it be on machinery or competency based working in teams or learning to communicate better to better standards.
I love working on my programme because I learn hands on skills as well as theory based work. Rolls Royce also offer me advanced and more real life scenarios where my skills can be used for my role in the future.
I feel very valued at Rolls Royce people go out of their way to help you and their always someone to talk to should a problem come up. I get regular feedback and meetings to discuss my progress and any questions I have to help tailor my programme to my needs.
My programme is very organised week by week I have a new skill or work to complete to go toward either NVQ or BTEC qualifications and future changes are told well in advance so proper planning is put in place to make relevant changes so I don't miss out.
At Rolls Royce every apprentice is allocated an ADL (apprentice development leader) who looks after their designated apprentices. My ADL meets up with me regularly to track my progress and goes out of his way to solve any issues I have.
Rolls Royce is very accommodating if I have an issue or query they are resolved. This is mainly done through a communications meeting on a Friday morning where queries are shared and Rolls Royce do their best to resolve to whatever is reasonably practicable.
My salary covers all my costs for the moment as I am still living at home so I have minimum expenditure such as food or rent.
Rolls Royce have many leisure clubs such as the gym or leisure centre for racket sports etc. they also have a football team or rugby team and much more that employees can get involved with in their free time should they choose to.
Yes
The other employees are friendly and accommodating, the salary is competitive with other companies and you learn loads of new skills and have good job satisfaction at the end of every day.
Work hard to get the grades required to apply and get as much experience as possible in whatever the role they're looking for.
