My role as an Advanced Practical Apprentice in my final year involves me touring the site responsible for Civil Large Engine Operations and completing various placements in order to collect evidence for the relevant units to achieve a NVQ Level 3 qualification.
I have developed a variety of hands on engineering skills but also achieved additional skills such as lifting and slinging obtained from various courses I have participated in.
I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot as I work in a field I am passionate about with people I can relate to and get along with. The company has met all of my expectations prior to starting
I feel incredibly valued as an apprentice for Rolls Royce as I receive a lot of support when I require it. I am also recognised for any projects I participate in.
My programme is structured well with clear guidelines and objectives. I have regular meetings with my supervisor in order to track my progress and offer support if required.
I receive support as and when I require it, my training officer keeps after me very well and is aware of my progress.
I haven't really dealt much with employer support due to the vast size of the company however on the very few occasions where I have received support it has been good.
Personally I feel I am very well paid as apprentice, I commute 100 miles a day to work but my salary more than covers this with living and social costs included.
Yes if I choose to participate in them, I tend to not deal with much activity outside of work as I do not live local.
Yes
Because of how prestigious the company is and how well you are looked after as a Rolls Royce employee
Ensure you obtain a relevant background to what job you are applying for prior to applying. There is a lot of competition so educating yourself in the field before hand will help.
