  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The apprenticeship is varied in terms of daily tasks but the core of each of my placements is planning and control. Managing supply and demand of engine parts through talking to suppliers in a buy environment, or being physically in a factory in a make environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My scheme allows me to complete a Level 5 NVQ in Supply Chain Management, as well as a Bachelors degree in Business Management & Leadership. I learn new business skills every day and learning from university modules has direct application to the workplace which is great.

  • very much!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Rolls-Royce?
  • Extremely. Although sometimes objectives require influencing without direct authority this allows development of my skills and Rolls-Royce doesn't shy away from giving apprentices full responsibility if they are capable.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • placements are laid out for me and a development plan is followed through careful management.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Block study weeks for university provide the learning but like a full time university student much of my study is self directed with guidance from mentors available if needed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support in all manners is fantastic. Health care, professional development and all manor of services are available to me.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My pay is low for a full time employee but considering the benefits and a staggered pay increase scheme based on university and NVQ completion, its not something to complain about. Shared housing the wage would suffice.

  • Being a large company there are a multitude of activities and clubs organised.

  • Yes

  • A fantastic company to work for which allows your potential to be realised.
