1st year - time in the workshop gaining an appreciation of machining 2nd and 3rd year - time in the business carrying out placements in different teams studying for a Foundation Degree in Engineering along with work
I feel that i have gained a greater understanding of how to machine and also gained experience in the workplace
I enjoy my apprenticeship since it allows me to gain work experience while studying however i fell as an apprentice, occasionally i get tasks which others do not want
i feel that my opinion as an apprentice is valued and that any feedback i give to my line manager is considered
there is a clear structure to my scheme since we are made aware very early on what we are doing we also have regular meetings to monitor progress and discuss any concerns we may have
we have regular meetings with my line manager in which we discuss the scheme and any concerns i may have however my manager can be hard to contact outside these meetings since they work across two sites

the salary meets my costs and allows me to save money every month
rolls royce offer discounted activities for apprentices as part of an apprentice scheme we are also given the chance to work in germany as part of an exchange and had a week of outward bound to enhance team working skills

it is a highly reputable company to work for and many employees have worked here for a long time, many coming though the apprenticeship scheme; this shows that the company will look after you
