Training for the ICAEW ACA, you'll gain a lot of finance related skills which are all very relevant to many areas of business. PwC provides plenty of training before your placement so you are well prepared for when you start and know exactly what to expect. Everything you learn at uni can be relevant to your placement and so helps further equip you for the job. When initially joining you are not expected to know much so no question is too stupid, just ask. The placement provides you with valuable experience which can then be applied to your studies at uni and help in your exams.
Lots of support for junior members, feedback system to see where you have done well and how you can develop yourself. PwC cares about all of its employees. All the work you do is appreciated and they will always find something you can be involved in. Once you are a bit more experienced, you can ask to be involved in certain areas which you haven't done before or want to gain more experience in.
Spend the first year entirely at uni, 2nd & 3rd year have a placement from January to April (slightly longer than 2nd term - you'll start and finish in the holidays), 4th year has a November to April placement, all the rest of the time is spent at uni. You will always have someone you can speak to, whether at uni or on placement.
The business is all about its people, there is always someone available to help you and everyone is friendly. All of the team members on an audit are willing to help you out and everyone has been assigned a people manager who is someone you can go to with any problems. In addition, someone in the year above will be assigned as your buddy who you can go to with any problems, they are generally at a very similar level to you so you can discuss anything.
Salary is good, all travel expenses beyond travelling ot the PwC office you're from are covered, all expenses for away jobs are covered. As a placement student your annual earnings will be below the personal allowance so you won't have to pay any tax on the money you earn while still a student (unless you have another part time job for the rest of year and exceed the PA)
Office hold socials and the end of each month, there are normally various other things going on such as sports etc. Audit teams will often do social events as well such as going out for lunch or drinks with the client, or maybe just agreeing to go to the cinema after work one night.
Yes
Salary is pretty good, you'll gain a lot of new skills and experience. The business is based upon its people so you'll be well looked after.
