I have been training to be an Access Planner who undertakes new build, diversionary and buisiness installs, planning new civil engineering work as well as fiber optic, copper and coax network.
I have gained a level 3 ICT NVQ, developed interaction and communications skills, as well as learnt numerous new programmes specific to the job role as well as furthering my knowledge in basic programmes such as word, powerpoint and excel
The programme was varied and interesting, my team mates are one of my favorite parts of the job. I enjoyed it thoroughly
I do feel valued to an extent, as an apprentice at least, although various restructures within the business outside of the apprenticship have left me and some others a little worried for the future
I do beleive the programme could have more structure to it, although any training weeks where well put together. The day to day work though isn't brilliantly structured but that is outside of the apprenticships control
My apprentice manager is available whenever I need them, as well as my team mates. I always feel help is there whenever I need it
Again my team mates and team manager are always there when i need them, I feel well supported
The apprenticeship wage was a little tight, but in comparison to other apprenticeships it is good. My wage once graduated is very favorible and is one of the reasons I was willing to go a year on a lower wage untill that came.
Virgin always offers a lot of extra curicular activities, it is just up to the individual to engage themselves. I have met a lot of good freinds on the apprenticeship
Yes
The opportunities if you put in the work and meet the grade are very good
Work hard and the skills you gain working for Virgin will keep you secure for years to come
