Attachment dependant; currently I am working in failure investigation of critical parts. This involves looking at failed parts/systems/engine and determining something for example, cause of damage or acceptable level of damage. Other places I have work in are Development teams testing and validating modifications for engines in service. Flight test team working to get new a new engine type certified for flight and production.
I have developed my skillset and ability to work cohesively with diverse groups of people to achieve a common goal especially under pressures like time and finance.
Naturally certain attachments are more suited to my working style than others but I enjoy learning about each section I work in and how their jobs contribute to designing, building and delivering our products.
I am valued as a member of the team that I work in not a work experience person or Tea boy. I get given real jobs like the other employees would.
The transition between the first year of training and the subsequent years out in the business on placement was difficult. The balance of work to training can be difficult too. I feel there is room for you to take charge of your apprenticeship if you want to.
Support is there for those who need it.
Support is there for those who need/ ask for it. I try to solve issues as they arise myself because I think its part of the apprenticeship and job you have undertaken.
I still live at home so I'm fine. The apprentices who have moved away from home still have no issues.
Socially there are many leisure clubs which you have access to as an Employee. the Apprentices' and Graduates' also run an association where activities and trips are laid on for members.
Yes
They are a good company to work for who are known for world class apprentices, many of the Workers,Team leaders and managers were apprentices which makes for a good work environment.
They don't expect you to know everything but they do want somebody who shows enthusiasm and a willingness to work towards what they want. examples of being interested in your field will help too.
