I am a New Start Designer, this involves using CAD systems, product life management systems and communicating with members of different functions to resolve issues
I have developed my communication skills and computer skills
I enjoy my programme greatly, it has given me the confidence to solve my own problems and make new contacts within the company in preperation for me becoming a designer
I feel i am a valued asset to the teams i am placed on and that my experiences from the shop floor are taken, and utilised to avoid previous mistakes
It has been given much time and thought as to the content it will include and the training team to a fantastic job of getting things orginised and keeping us up to dat with things that are going on
The training team are always at hand to give advice, support and assistance whenever needed. Even the wider team of management are ready to help if we evere should need it
BAE Systems has always given me the oppertunities to follow the carreer path i wish to choose. I know that there are always people within the company that i can speak to for advice and to discuss things i am unsure of
Currently, it is a slight struggle as i have taken a wage drop, but i took this drop willingly and knowing that it will lead to a higher wage in the end
Yes, BAE systems are always represented at charity events in the local area and there are always teams planning activities together
Yes
BAE Systems has provided me with the tools to carve my own career path and become someone that i never imagined i could be when i was at school. I only wish i had taken the oppertunity sooner when i left school.
If you apply and get knocked back, apply again. Keep applying if its what you really want, I had to apply 5 times before i got in. If you do get rejected, ask for reasons so you can improve for next time. It is hard to take if you keep getting told no, but persistance will pay off in the end.
