A mix of workshop practical work, college work and day courses. College is once every two weeks and is a week long. The day courses are spread out over the year.
I have learned various new skills in the workshop and improved my academic skills. In the workshop I have learned skills such as milling, turning, fitting and welding.
I really enjoy the programme as it gives me a good mix of academic and practical work which suits my interests and work styles very well. The staff are also very helpful.
I feel very valued by Rolls-Royce as they invest a lot of time, money and experience into all apprentices. The workshops are very well funded and the educations providied is of a very good standard.
The structure is well organised and gives a good mix of practical and academic work. Currently in a three week period I do two weeks in a practical sections and one week in college.
I recieve all the support that I need from both the college lecturers from Derby college and the staff that provide the training in the workshop.
I recieve all the support I need from my employer in terms of personal issues, educational issues and any other problems I have. They are also very helpful for managing the structure of the course.
The salary is good for an apprenticeship of this level and is certainly above the average. It covers all costs that I have for things such as transport.
There are a wide range of opportunities to do extra activities outside of work such as various sports clubs and the Rolls-Royce heritage membership.
