Depending on the area in which I am currently working the day to day roll changes. However the general day to day activity is completing value adding work that is carried out within the area and collecting evidence to complete the nvq portfolio
I have both learnt new skills and developed existing skills throughout the apprentiship. New skills must be learnt to complete new jobs and tasks.
I greatly enjoy my apprentiship program. The company is great to work for, the people are helpful and knowledgeable and greatly exceeds my expectations.
Rolls-Royce continually shows the appreciation for there employees by spending money on continuous improvement such as courses and additional training. There is a great emphasis on the employee
The program has been well structured throughout, the information regarding how the NVQ portfolio is completed was poor at first, however efforts have been made to improve this. The support and help from other employees and apprentices is great, and task delegation can vary from area to area depending on the work being carried out. Sometimes it may be impossible to delegate a task if they're is too much riding on it being perfect.
My training provider has given great support and help throughout, from college support to individual one on one sessions and reviews. My manager and tutors have been professional and great throughout. This has lead to a thorough enjoyment of my program.
From my manager, to HR Team to line managers within the business, help is always there if needed, and a consistent professional attitude is withheld at all times. Apprentices are never left to struggle.
The salary within the first year was hard to manage on as I did not start until I was 21 and already had a flat, car etc. however the pay was still great compared to other apprentiships. The salary has increased and is now excellent.
There are plenty of opportunities out of work to be had if you are willing to take part, from apprentice groups and nights out etc to other events such as the opportunity to take part in the restoration of old aero engine parts and devices. There is a Rolls Royce leisure club and also opportunities to help out in schools and STEM programs
Yes
As an apprentiship package the experience is second to non. I would highly recommend the program to a friend, however given the reputation of Rolls-Royce as a company, there would be no need to recommend as the prestige and reputation speaks for itself!
To others applying I would say preparation is key, and make sure you put your all into it as the competition can be tough. The assessment days are laid back though, and I feel that if you really want the opportunity and have the skills, the management and training staff will notice and help.
