my apprenticeship involves me training to have the skills and the knowledge not to mention experience for the role of a gas man, working in the sector of operating and maintain. I go through diffrent schedules every month ranging from college to onsite experience and learning. i am taught about health and safety dangers and how national grid run a high standard work place. In the national grid base at eakring i am taught how to work with pipes and converting from metric to inches and vise versa. this is part of my NVQ. then at college i am involved with a btec in engineering level 3.
yes as i have only left high school i feel i have already increased in a huge number of skills that i otherwise would not have been able to. Hand skills and pipe fitting. confined space, working and rescue. these are just a few of the skills i have learnt.
i enjoy my apprenticeship emensly, as i did not originally want to go college this field and the type of work i am doing is exactly what i hoped to get when applying. as all things it does have its pros and cons but in my situation the pros heavily outweigh the cons.
i feel like i am greatly valued at national grid as the management and the co-workers give you your freedom but also supprt you when you need them.
it is pretty well organised and i am always aware on what i am needing to do or where i need to go, however i am not in a place genrally for longer than a month and the courses could be better timed, however it is nothing that has caused a problem.
I so far have recieved plenty help from my trainers they have given lots of indivsual support when teaching as well as constantly asking if i need help.
I feel very supported by my employer as whenever i have any enquirys or issues they are dealt with in a manor that is suitable. if i feel i require help they are all ways there to help me and guide me.
very well, in my opinion national grid are very rewarding and more than fare in terms of costs.
Yes as the training i have been shown there is lots of opportunities if you want them.
Yes

It is a company which values all the core aspects any bussiness should and they respect other wishes and needs. it is a extremely good apprenticeship to be in and the advice i would give is be yourself and show the apects in yourself which are tied with the values.
