Category Executive. Along side with administration task such as responding to emails, answer calls and booking meeting rooms. I also have the opportunity to be involved in the core tasks of team which is running tendering process for central government and wider public sector. After 7 months on the scheme I am now fully responsible for my own National Further Competition.
From the start I have learnt new Microsoft skills. Furthermore, I am studying towards a Level 4 Diploma in Chartered Institute in Procurement and Supply. I have also done further professional training involving contract management.
I enjoy the fast pace and ever chaning nature of the civil service, this means that there is rarely a dull day in the office. In addition to that, this scheme has given me the opportunity to work and at the same level with experienced professionals and contribute towards achieving the overarching goal.
I feel extremely valued by the Civil Service, my manger and I will regularly have catch-up meetings and when I've done an impressive piece of work I will receive recognition for it.
The induction was slightly confusing however there is ample opportunity to train with support provided form various sources. However the structure of the program could be improved by giving apprentices the opportunity to move teams every 6-12 months.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider consistently throughout the scheme.
I do receive a large amount of support from my employer however I have to more proactive to seek and receive this.
My salary is relatively good for the grade of work and can just cover the costs of daily living.
I have not experienced any further opportunities outside of work from this scheme.
Yes
The work is exciting, fast paced and consistently changing. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about public sector life and gain invaluable experience.
Make sure to thoroughly prepare and remain calm through out the process.
