  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • When I Leave the first stage of training I will go on to do more specific overhead lines training, this will involve going out with a team and doing day to day activities. At the moment I am doing the course in order to move on to this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots of new hands on skills, this is by doing bench fitting and also electrical courses throughout the year. As well as this its also adding to the qualifications I already have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme is really enjoyable, you get lots of time to finish your work, you are always supported and there is always somebody there to help you if you do get stuck.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Network Rail?
  • Network Rail are a very good company who seem to value its employees. From mangers always being available for a chat and also there to help you, nothing is to much trouble.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course is well structured, you get lots of time to complete work with a good teaching standard. As well as this, you get lots of time to develop your skills.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Training provider provides as much support as necessary. if you are ever struggling, they are there to help you, and if they cant they'll point you in the right direction.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Any support needed by the employer, there is always somebody at hand to help you weather its a phone call you need to make or just a everyday question, they are there to help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is a very good one considering I have no outgoings and all travel is provided, next year when I go home my salary goes up to hopefully meet my needs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities if you want to take them. they are always offering more qualifications for you to go for, and also letting you have a day of for charity days and also have gyms and a football team.

  • Yes

  • I would recommend this course to a friend because I think that it is such a good opportunity to gain some good qualifications and also secure yourself a good job with good future prospects.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Network Rail?
  • Be yourself, be confident and also do your research in to the company. Have an idea where you want to be in the future because this company can get you to where you want to be.
