  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Store Apprentice. My daily tasks include engaging with and assisting customers as well as insuring the store is running smoothly. This can include tasks such as tidying or putting out new stock.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my people skills due to interacting with multiple customers on a day to day basis and every customer is different so the skills develop. Also, you do many tasks such which are transferable which are beneficial for the future.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. The team at the store is great and everyone is very friendly and easy to get along with which is something I wasn't expecting before the start of my apprenticeship.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • I feel like I am valued by Aldi because everyone is friendly and accommodating. The management are open and regularly provide feedback which enables me to improve and they tell you things you're doing well at which is good for confidence.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is incredibly well structured. There is a representative from First4Skills who I am in contact with once a month to discuss my progress and keep up with tests. It is also organised in the sense of what happens at the end.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a good amount of support because Irene from First4Skills sees me once a month so this means that I am always aware of any ongoings

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer which is beneficial because it's always good to hear about how you're progressing. But also it makes me feel comfortable which means that if I ever encountered an issue of some kind that I would be able to discuss this with the relevant people.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is very good for my age and it enables me to get what I need as well as having lots to do with as I please.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are arranged out of work events that occur occasionally, such as a team bonding event at a bowling alley which was very enjoyable. This enables us to know our colleagues even more and develop a closer bond.

  • 9. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the programme is very good for a young person and the team are extremely welcoming and friendly. It's also very beneficial for the future in terms of management opportunities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Make sure you always try your best. Also perseverance is key. If you don't enjoy it at the start, give it time. Don't quit too early because it is such a great opportunity.
