My role is to attend the courses that network rail and Babcock international provide us apprentices and gain at least the pass criteria to progress through the apprenticeship.
Yes, I've learnt plenty of new skills and have developed a lot of skills I'd learnt before hand, making me a better engineering apprentice.
I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship scheme, from having a personal relationship with my lecturers (which is key to good learning) as well as making some really good, life long friends!
I feel very valued, they seem to want me to progress well and want me to strive in everything I do and support me in my endeavours.
Extremely well organised, everything is planned well so that those who aren't as quick or as knowledgable as the others can catch up with plenty of time to spare. Everyone is taken into consideration.
An awful lot. If someone is struggling with the work, they're more than happy to repeat it a thousand times of need be, but if you understand it eventually then they are more than happy to help you.
Lots too! My depot manager and apprentice manager are very supportive of my learning and want me to excel.
Food and accommodation are supplied so the big expenses are covered, so the only things you have to it for are personal items, like extra food or drink you may require etc. our current salary isn't as much as what the next years apprentices get but we still have very little outgoings
The town that the apprenticeship is based in currently hasn got much to do in unless you have your car, but there's still sporty things to do on base as well as other pass times that are reachable via taxi!
Yes
Because they're an employer for life and look after everyone well. The sky's the limit with them which is important!
Keep and open mind on people and the work/coursework as well as the thought of living away. It is all an amazing experience which you'll be glad you became a part of.
