On a day-to-day basis my role is varied - the majority of my time I spend on client audits, or learning how to work with the systems within my company.
I have learnt many new skills - since starting this employment I have been on a 2 week training course learning about the sector that I am working in. I had also attended a course at a local college to learn the material needed for my first accounting exam. When I started I had no accounting knowledge, hence I feel like I'v learnt a lot already!
I enjoy the teamwork aspect - I get to work with teams regularly on my course. Also the people I work with are all very friendly and create a fun atmosphere in the office.
I feel valued at BDO.
The programme is very structured - we get correspondance to let us know when our exams are and the periods that we will be in college. We also regularly meet with our college assessors to gage how we are doing in our course and have meetings with managers in BDO to assess and gain feedback on how we are performing on client jobs.
We gain a large amount of support. We have regular contact with our assesor with a detailed plan so I can tell exactly where I am in terms of my qualification.
I feel that I have a lot of support - I have an assigned counselling manager who is my point of contact if I have any queries.
I believe my salary meets my costs well. I have to commute into work which means that I do have to spend a large percentage of my wages on travelling costs, however this was my choice in order to gain the greater opportunities that BDO has to offer.
Outside of work there are numerous social events which we have the opportunity to attend, which are always great fun and provide the opportunity to socialise outside of the work environment.
Yes
I like the friendly atmosphere at BDO and the opportunities that I can get within my career, as well as the social side that is available at BDO.
I would advise to research on the internet beforehand to look for tips on the online assessments. Also to practice questions that may come up in the interview, and to put yourself into the interview situation.
