My job is in the BSG department and my daily work involves working for a variety of managers and communicating issues I am having on the job with them and occasionally chasing the client for further information, during my time I have also been a part of the School liaison team communicating with schools externally operating on my own.
I started this job with little experience in accountancy and through internal training and trips to Kaplan collage I have improved my skills and knowledge in all forms of accountancy including working towards an AAT level 3 Qualification
I am interested in the work that I do and have a supportive team around me that are always willing to help and help me to improve my skills in accountancy.
I feel highly valued within my department as whenever I have made a request or attempted to try and focus on one form of job or another it has always been attempted by the managers to allow me to work in a way that suits me
My programme is very well structured from when I started and spent the first week of my apprenticeship being introduced to the specific BSG way of doing things and the different things available to me at Grant Thornton then I was provided with a supervisor to help me as I started working on client work and I have always been given adequate time and support while studying also
I am provided with massive support from my training provider in the shape of a massive amount of online material for me to use and also the tutors being easy to access and providing final days to ensure that my knowledge is complete and correct and the tutors are very positive and happy to help in any way I need.
I received massive support from my manger in giving me the time I needed to learn the correct ways to do things and to operate within BSG and helping to address issues with me as they come up.
My salary is very competitive for my age and level so for that reason it does meet my costs to an appropriate degree as it allows me to fund all of the costs relating to my work life
The company social committee has provided me with a massive variety of unique opportunities such as the spring ball or Thames cruise event which where both subsidised by the company
Yes
Because of the respectful way they treat there apprentices, as full employees not a second rate staff, this is shown in the way your treated and your concerns are addressed the same as any member of the team and also in the fact that the wage is not much lower as it could have been.
My advice to someone who is applying is to try to take time in the interview process especially online, they give you time to look at the questions and for the aptitude test there are example questions for you to try so you can fully understand the questions being asked of you.
