As an apprentice currently daily I am taken to another site from the provided accommodation for instructing in BTEC and NVQ qualifications then travel back to the accommodation. There are then after work activities some nights and work to be done for qualifications.
By taking part in NVQ qualifications and BTEC's the instructors directing me have given personal knowledge and work experience and working within the workshops to improve and develop skills that are necessary for the qualifications and use in the future for jobs
I enjoy the team of instructors who are excellent in presenting and providing support to all apprentices and how well they work together to coordinate the work between interchanging instructors. The teams and apprentices work together in a good culture to help and respond to each other with guidance from the instructors.
By being given appraisals by instructors and comments back on completed work that give us incentives back from Network Rail and being given tasks and outside interaction with work and being included within that.
Most of the instruction and and preparation is useful and well structured but some of the newer courses with new instructors has not been as effective or helpful as other instruction
The instructors and guidance staff are very helpful with working discretions and any personal problems with staff or other apprentices.
The HR team in the office are very helpful in working to organise events or working out what I need to for filling or paperwork issues
By paying for living, food, travel to work and being in a location near to shops and easy other travel to nearby areas the pay easily covers the costs that come up
There are plenty of nearby activities to take part in and there are enough out of work activities that are provided by the company to entertain on most evenings along with free facilities to use.
Yes
Because of the way that as apprentices we are treated and approached on the way up to being employed and allowed to do work related to network rail and the physicality of the work.
Keep in mind the vision of network rail during the process of interviews and in the pre-assessments try not to cheat as there are tests after. Once induced to the working environment of the apprenticeship it is enjoyable even with the stress of being so far away from family but just make the most of the time as it fly's by and is a good experience
