My job title is a staff/assistant. My daily tasks change everyday and I am never usually doing the same thing. I am an auditor so I have to speak to my clients everyday about what is going on in their company and I have to ensure the numbers on their financial statements are true and fair. I am usually out on a client site's each week meaning I travel a lot and sometimes stay away. we usually work together in an audit team so there is a lot of interactions with colleges.
The main skill that has improved is my technology skills, we have to use a lot of programmes and Microsoft based programmes such as excel every day. My people skills and confidence has grown as you are out of your comfort zone at the start and have to get used to talking to the clients. I have only taken one accounting exam so far and passed.
I enjoy working in a team as there is always someone there to support you and help you if you are stuck. All of the people I work with are very friendly and easy to get along with.
I feel very valued by EY, there is always someone looking out for you, they have buddy and counsellor schemes in place so you have someone to go to with experience for any queries you have. They have awards that they allocate to you if you have exceeded and done well and you are recognised for the hard work you do.
I think my programme is well structured although 5 years is very long. So far they have provided us with enough space in-between our exams to work and study sufficiently, and they never place them around busy season. You can arrange meetings with your counsellor whenever you are free.
There is a lot of support, you can email them and they will reply straight away, and if they don't there are always a list of other people that you can contact instead.
I haven't needed much support from my supplier so far as I have only recently joined, however I know all of the many routes and contacts that I might needed for all situations.
My salary is meets my living costs and social costs well. I do live far away from the office which is costly, but we usually work from clients sites and if this isn't on our usual route to work we can expense the costs which is helpful.
There are many social events that happen at work, we have family days in our service lines and catch up meetings on how well we are progressing which is good.
Yes
It is a excellent company to work for, the pay is good and the people that work there are very nice. there is lot of support involved and always someone to get help from.
I would recommend someone to have a car and be able to drive before they apply as sometimes it is very difficult to get to the clients sites. I would also warn them about the long hours you put in
