  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a school leaver is to train as an auditor whilst sitting my ACA exams with ICAEW. I am responsible for many different tasks, dependent on the client I am on and how I am on the client for. I complete auditing accounts through setting up lead sheets, tie support to the data received from clients, reviewing board minutes, completing planning documents such as analytical procedures, completing overall analytical procedures and ensuring all support is obtained from the client to ensure we have enough evidence. I frequently speak to clients when I need support from them or any questions I have for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills, leadership skills, team working skills, organisation, prioritisation and timing skills due to my day-to-day tasks and through training. I have gained more knowledge for audit while completing my exams which has helped me understand the tasks that need to be completed, whilst complying with relevant standards and rules.

  • I really enjoy the programme I am on because I have met a lot of new people and learned a lot about audit and the working world. I have enjoyed working with EY as the people within the company are lovely people and are extremely helpful whenever you need help. It met my expectations vastly and I hope to continue enjoying the programme for the next 5 years.
