My role as an analyst in the real estate tax team entails carrying out due diligence work and reports for clients regarding tax technical issues that they may face during their transactions. On a daily basis, I also help the team with the take on procedures and admin when client deals come through.
Whilst working at Deloitte, I have also been sitting exams for my professional ACA and CTA qualifications, where I have developed skills on becoming a good chartered accountant and tax advisor. Also, on the job, I have learnt how to manage my work under time pressures and work with new people on every deal I help with.
I feel my school leavers programme has been very beneficial for my career and it offers me with so many challenges, benefits and rewards in order to progress within Deloitte. The culture of the company helped me settle in immediately, ensuring that I am enjoying the scheme.
At Deloitte, each employee gets recognised for the hard work they put in. My annual and mid term appraisal reviews also show this. My team also allow me to get involved in new deals and projects as much as I can to build on my skills and experience. For this reason, I feel that every employee at Deloitte is always valued.
The bright start programme has been set up to be extremely well structured. There is a bright start committee run by students itself and also, allocated members of Deloitte who are in charge of bright starts only. Bright starts are also supported with further guidance regarding exams - we are given extra study days to prepare and extra college support which really helps!
Our training provider is a well known accounting provider across the country. The tutors are good help though of course, this entirely depends on luck of getting a tutor that you feel comfortable with. On a general basis, the training provider is good help but could provide us with more resources to help us with studying for exams.
On the whole, I am extremely pleased with the support I receive from Deloitte from sitting exams to progressing on the job. Everyone is approachable so I never run out of people to go to when I have an issue. It makes working here much more enjoyable!
As a bright start, the salary is competitive and good for someone aged 18. Thought living in London is always extremely expensive in comparison to regional living costs. However, Deloitte ensure to pay bright starts a salary that enables us to pay these high living costs and still maintain a good lifestyle.
Deloitte provide many socials and networking events where employees are able to broaden their knowledge on other firms and network with people in different sector and industries. They also have many activities, competitions and events within the firm. For example, tax women's netball.
Yes
Deloitte offer a range of scheme for employees aged as young as 18 and ensure all bright starts are treated with the utmost amount of respect just like the rest of the firm is. Deloitte helps each individual build and progress in their career as well as gaining valuable qualifications that are recognised globally.
The key aspect when applying for a job at Deloitte is to have passion for your position and role. Preparations for interviews and studying for assessment days are always vital but Deloitte looks for enthusiastic individuals to work for the firm.
