I am an Associate in the Audit service line. Mostly, my job involves being a part of various diverse engagement teams in conducting audits of different companies, mainly in the real estate and private equity sectors. One a micro level, day to day tasks greatly vary, which is a really appealing aspect of the role. I am lucky enough to have had great exposure to a variety of clients, and look forward to taking on more responsibilities as I progress through my apprenticeship with Deloitte.
Yes, my development from a skills perspective has been great in my first 10 months at Deloitte. I have an extensive grasp of the audit and accounting practise, and am lucky enough to be studying for the ACCA professional qualification too. Deloitte's help has also allowed me to develop other skills, such as managerial skills which really has increased my overall skills to become much more holistic in the eyes of a professional body.
The programme really is great. Choosing to enter the world of work at 18 was a hard one, but the environment at Deloitte really has led to me having no regrets. The culture that transcends throughout the company in all of its member firms really is staggering, and the environment in my office is particularly upbeat and welcoming. This really does make the days (especially the long ones!) particularly enjoyable.
Very well. Having a large amount of different engagement teams that constantly rotate is a privilege in terms of gaining exposure to many different people at different levels of their careers. This also brings the possibility for a good amount of managerial recognition, as with the more people you can work with the more different reward is available. Deloitte really works on a culture of meritocracy, and to that end is more than happy (and avidly promotes) the reward of those who deserve it.
Very well. As a Deloitte UK apprentice (or BrightStart) there is a clear path set out to all applicants as to how they can progress and develop throughout their contract. We are inducted to the firm with the university graduates, and are treated on the same level as them, which is really testament to Deloitte's wholly inclusive culture. We are all given a 'Learning Manager' - who we can place great reliance on in terms of our professional education.
Very much. We receive a great deal of training both internally and externally. We are able top rely on a learning manager within Deloitte for our professional studies, which really is a good asset for apprentices.
Deloitte have always been very supportive in terms of our professional development. Deloitte is able to really nurture it's apprentices to ensure that they all perform in line with University graduates, and I believe they have been one of the biggest companies to act in such a way to promote apprentices.
Exceptionally well. Deloitte offers a very competitive salary in respect to the other 'Big Four'. Especially in Jersey, Deloitte offers a very rewarding salary.
Deloitte has a very lively and good environment. I believe the best office environment consists of a good blend of professionalism and sociability, and I certainly think Deloitte UK is a great proponent of both - allowing it's staff to socialise but also offering a great environment for professional development. Deloitte also has a great CSR policy.
Yes
I believe it is a great place to work. It is a fantastic company to get the most out of you professionally, and really is a great first step into the working world. Given the strong advocacy the firm is placing in regard to apprenticeship schemes, I couldn't think of a better firm to join as an apprentice.
Try. As I have mentioned, Deloitte really works on a underlying respect for meritocracy, so if you are willing to work hard, then Deloitte really is a step you should consider.
