I work as part of a team on a daily basis. I work for many different clients so it is always different. I also communicate with clients on a daily basis and face to face interaction is a main part of the Job. On a day to day basis I test different items on a clients financial statements to ensure they are fair and true representations.
I have definitely learned new skills, such as personell skills through interacting with clients and even excel skills - as I had never used excel before and no I use it on a daily basis!
I enjoy my programme as I am never stuck at the same desk everyday, I have worked on a range of clients all over the region. However at the same time this is something I also dislike as the commuting takes up so much time. When you are working 9-5.30 but then have to commute for 2 hours each way, it takes up so much time especially during exams when you need to revise after work!
I feel valued by Deloitte, all managers/senior associates on the teams I have worked with have been polite and have always thanked me for my work and efforts on the Job. There is also a limelight scheme which rewards people for their hardwork.
The programme is well structured and is clearly outlined from day one. There is an exam manager in the office who you can go to for any exam related questions. The programme has also been flexible with exam dates as I managed to change a date of one exam so it was more convenient for myself.
Tutors in college make themselves available by email, so you can ask any questions you may have up until the exam.
I feel like I have got a lot of support. The company has an internal support system by matching yourself with an appraiser. My appraiser has been amazing, any problems or queries I have been able to go straight to them and they have helped me straight away. Also you are paired with a buddy who is the year above and they are very helpful when it comes to asking questions you feel may by 'silly' or if you don't know who ask you can go to them.
The salary is good for someone who is just coming out of school. However, I would not be able to move out of home on this salary. Additionally, there is no over time pay - this is why I would only rate the salary a 7 as you will find yourself working overtime a lot for no extra money.
There are many opportunities out side of work. Every year each office holds a summer and Christmas party. I am part of the social committee in my office and there are many other socials that are arranged from curry nights to cheese and wine socials. There is also an annual Prague football trip. As well as many office drinks get togethers.
