I am currently working as an assistant associate in Audit in the Birmingham branch. Day to day role includes testing balances of the financial statements of companies to identify any material misstatement.
I have begun studying for the ACA qualification,, learning in depth about, tax, business and accounting. Furthermore, I have improved interpersonal and communicative skills and developed a professional etiquette.
I enjoy working with the team very much, whilst the culture of the firm is relaxed and includes social events. Some of the work is dull at the base level but that may be expected when joining at the bottom
I feel highly valued at Deloitte, due to the management team I am surrounded by however I think this may vary depending on the managers you may have.
Highly structured with support from appraisers and staff at college who support your study of the ACA qualification. Induction and on the job training is conducted with graduates.
If anything, the support from tutors has felt slightly overbearing with the tutors trying to regiment revision and learning such that it can hinder those with a more flexible technique for learning.
There is a lot of support in terms of having an appraiser, and management who are willing to support you. The HR team is not the most visible but support if asked for is available.
I live at home currently, so I have few costs to maintain. That said the salary is constantly rising each year and has always been enough for me. This may depend on your travel arrangements and accommodation however.
There are many social events and opportunities to attend recruitment events to attract potential joiners. However, often you may be too busy to do all the events that you would like and may not get to experience the full breadth of opportunities.
Yes
Deloitte has many opportunities to develop to senior roles very quickly, and if this type of role is desired then nothing is better. The pay also incrementally increases each year.
Be sure to understand the work ethic required with long days and work at the weekends sometimes. However, for the application process, a relatable, friendly and talkative personality seem to be highly desired over quiet characters.
